Replacing your garage door panels can seem like a daunting task. But if you make sure that you have the correct garage door panels and follow the right steps, you can have them replaced in no time. Here are four steps to replacing garage door panels:

1. Identify the Make and Model of Your Garage Door: Before purchasing new garage door panels, make sure you identify the make and model of your garage door. This helps to ensure that the garage door panel you choose will fit correctly. If the make and model of the garage door are unknown, or the door is older, you might need to contact the manufacturer directly.

2. Unplug the Automatic Garage Door Opener: Before starting the replacement process, make sure to unplug the automatic garage door opener, if you have one. Failure to do this could end with the door springing open while you are working on it and damaging the new panels or causing injury.

3. Remove the Old Garage Door Panels: A garage door typically consists of several panels connected to one another, along with rollers on the sides which run in the track that allows the door to move up and down freely. To replace one of the panels, you will have to remove them one-by-one until you reach the one you want to replace. To do this, detach the top panel from the one beneath it and then lift the panel up until it comes off the end of the track.

4. Hang the New Garage Door Panel and Test: When the new garage door panel is in place, slide the rollers into the track and lower the panel down. Use either screws or bolts to attach the new door panel to the one below it. Once you have reattached the other panels, plug the garage opener back in, and test that the panels slide up and down smoothly. To finish the job properly, you might have to repaint the entire garage door so the panels match and look fresh.

These four steps should have helped you replace your garage door panels. It is an easy process if you know what you’re doing and make sure you have the correct panels for your garage door. Make sure to follow all the steps carefully, otherwise you may end up damaging the new panels or even causing yourself injury.
