Learn the Basics of Transporting Your Motorcycle on a Flatbed Trailer

Moving a motorcycle onto a flatbed can be tricky, and it’s not a process to be taken lightly. It’s important to ensure that your motorcycle stays secure during the ride. Whether you’re transporting a cruiser, touring bike, or even a small dirt bike, there are some basic steps you can take to ensure the process is done safely and correctly.

The first factor to consider is the height of the flatbed. If you have a low-profile flatbed, this will make the process much easier. Generally, having a flatbed that is low to the ground is recommended as it will be easier to load the bike. If this isn’t an option, it’s also recommended to have at least two people to help load the bike onto the flatbed.

The next step is to create a safe ramp to load the bike onto the flatbed. Typically, you’ll want to use an arched ramp for optimal stability and safety. The wider the ramp, the better, as this will provide more support and leverage. It’s important to make sure the ramp is firmly attached to the flatbed. Next, consider having the flatbed roll up or drive onto a driveway. Doing this will drop the elevation of the flatbed, making it easier to maneuver the bike.
