Installing high density foam insulation is one of the best home projects you can take on, as it can not only protect your home from harsh climates, but also bugs and mold. It is much easier to install than some people may think and with these simple steps, you’ll soon be on your way to a quieter and more comfortable home.

Before you start your project, you’ll need to properly prepare the area that needs to be insulated. Start by sweeping away any dust or debris, and wiping down any surface areas so that your insulation can stick securely. Make sure to unplug any outlets in the area or remove them if needed, since leaving outlets in and sparking can cause a house fire.

Once your area is all cleaned up, frame out the area that needs to be insulated. If your area is large and open, you’ll want to frame it out with either wooden boards or pre-made frames, spaced about two feet apart. Then, measure the area for the amount of material you’ll need to purchase.

Now it’s time to spray the foam insulation onto the area. Take your time and start from the bottom corner, making your way across and then up, so that the insulation can fill in and expand. As with any project, make sure you keep safety glasses and gloves on so that you don’t get any foam on your skin or eyes. As the insulation is filling in, make sure it’s staying in the frame, though small amounts that expand out of the frame are ok. Once the foam has settled, you can go through and fill in any small holes you see. After that, let the foam completely dry before handling it.

Once you’ve completed the above steps, your high density foam insulation should be all set. All you have to do now is enjoy the quieter and more comfortable home that you’ve created. Installing high density foam insulation may require a bit of effort, but it’s the perfect project for protecting your home from harsh climates and pests. So get to work and within no time, you’ll have a home that is much quieter and more comfortable.
