The next step is to remove the existing oil filter from the engine and drain the oil pan of all of its oil. If you’re replacing an existing oil cooler, you will likely find it mounted in front of the car’s main radiator, towards the front of the car, behind the grill. Simply use your socket wrench to unbolt the old oil cooler from the inside of the car’s frame.
If you are installing a new oil cooler in a car that does not have one, you will need to drill the appropriate mounting holes into the frame or cross-member. An aftermarket oil cooler usually comes as part of a kit that has everything you need to mount it in place including brackets and accessories.
