Making a hanging organizer for your shower is an ideal way to store your showering essentials. It can be hung by a dowel over the showerhead or suspended from the curtain rod, making it a great choice for travel or for those who stay overnight frequently. While it does require some basic sewing skills, creating your own hanging organizer for the shower can be done in a few simple steps.

Begin by folding the top 1.5inches of the towel and sew it in place. If you’re looking for a more travel-friendly option, you can forgo the dowel and sew hook-and-loop fasteners to create a pocket for hanging from the curtain rod. To do this, sew one side of the hook-and-loop at the edge of the towel and the other side about 6-inches down in order to create room for the 2-inch curtain rod.

Once you have your pocket in place, measure 5-inches from the bottom of the pocket and pull the towel over itself, creating a 4-inch deep pleat. This is the first row of pockets. Continue to pin the sides in place and repeat this process to create a second pocket. For the last pocket, fold the end of the towel and make sure to use appropriate pins. If you are using the hook-and-loop method, this is the only pocket you’ll be able to make.

Sew the sides of the organizer to create the hanging pockets. Be sure to leave the ends of the rod pocket open. To create smaller pockets for your toiletries, sew vertical seams about 2-inches apart.

When it’s finished, decorate the hanging organizer with ribbon, lace, beads, or other decorations. If you would like to add some decoration across the top of each row of pockets, make sure to sew it onto the towel before sewing the sides shut. Once the organizer is complete, you can place the dowel through the pocket or hang it from the curtain rod with the hook-and-loop. Finally, cut 4 pieces of 4-inch ribbon and stitch two pieces 1-inch from the bottom corners of the organizer. Then, fold the towel in half and stitch two more pieces on the back. Finally, tie the ribbon in a bow to complete the hanging organizer.

If you’re traveling with your hanging organizer, you can easily roll it up for easier transportation. When it comes to cleaning the organizer, remember to remove all showering products before washing it. Place it in a washing machine and follow the instructions of the towel’s manufacturer for safely washing and drying the organizer. It’s important to remember to hang the organizer away from the direct flow of water in the shower.

With these simple steps, you can create a hanging organizer for your shower from a flexible material that’s easy to transport and store. You’ll have easily accessible storage for all your showering essentials, perfect for any occasion.
