Welding aluminum with an oxy-acetylene torch requires the proper tools and safety equipment to ensure a successful weld. To begin, ensure the fuel tank is full of oxygen and acetylene, or whatever fuel combination you’ll be working with. The two tanks should be securely fastened with hoses and the valves should be off. You can open the valves and adjust the flow of the gases. The acetylene should be set to maximum flow and the oxygen pressure can be set at a quarter of the way to full. Strike the nozzle with a striker to ignite the flame.
